I started fishing and caught my first fish when I was 3 so you could say I was a early learner. I am 42 now and have fished my whole life chasing any species that was available to catch but my favourite species are trout/salmon using Fly fishing techniques. I have fished in many parts of Australia Catching Barramundi in the north to Sea run trout in the south and have fished overseas as far Alaska chasing Silver Salmon and Papua New Guinea for Black Bass.

I started Kayak competition fishing a few years ago out of a Hobie Outback and now own 2 Pro Anglers which I also social fish out of as much as possible. I compete in both our Bream Series and recently Australian Bass series and have made some great friends and learnt so much and enjoy the fun of competing.

This will be my 3rd Worlds event and again look forward to meeting new people, making friends, visiting a country I haven’t been to and chasing a couple of new species of fish and learning the techniques required to catch them.

I was born and raised in a north western suburb of Sydney, which was about an hours drive to the nearest waterway so fishing for me at a young age was only on holidays and weekends away. But when we did go away my time was spent on the local jetties catching mullet and bream, or chasing crabs in the mangroves.

In 2008 I moved to the NSW Central coast and at this point I was able to fish nearly everyday( and I usually do) from fishing off the beach for Jewfish to wading the sand flats for Bream, Whiting and Flathead. I have traveled to New Zealand and caught giant Yellow Tail Kingfish and I just love getting out on my Hobie Pro Angler 14 any chance I get. One of my most favorite styles of fishing would have to be Land Based Game Fishing. I just love to head up the north coast of NSW to chase species like long tail tuna and cobia. One of my most memorable captures was the 1.68kg Black Bream ( my personal best) at Marlo this year which secured me my spot to qualify for the 4th Hobie fishing worlds.

I started fishing at a very young age with my parents and grandparents almost every weekend. I have fond memories of being placed in the middle of the wharf holding a rod. Most of my childhood was spent bait fishing at wharfs and rock walls. I first started land base lure fishing on the local lakes and rivers for Golden Perch, Murray Cod and Redfin in the ACT.

In 2008 I entered my first ABT bream kayak fishing comp. Since then I have learnt a great deal of how to catch Bream consistently and I am still learning today. I have been bitten by the fishing comp bug and enjoy being able to share techniques, learn new tricks, talk about general fishing and compete against some of the top Bream and bass anglers. I enjoy the challenge of catching Bream and bass on lures and also just being out on the water and being outdoors. I am looking forward to targeting new species in the Netherlands and can’t wait to meet all the other competitors.

I grew up in a small coastal town of Bulli in the Illawarra region of NSW, fishing for me has been a way of life due to my father being a professional fisherman. So you could say that it’s in my blood. Many of my school days and so called study days were spent either helping my dad or down the beach with fishing rod in hand, catching everything and anything from poddy mullet in the creek to bream and snapper off the rocks.

These days most of my free time is still spent fishing only out of my Hobie kayak, chasing snapper in the cooler months and bream, well all year round. I have been fishing the ABT Daiwa Hobie kayak Bream series for the past few years now. This year I am excited to have qualified for the Hobie Fishig Worlds in the Netherlands and the grand final in Western Australia. The only land base fishing I do now and have been for a while is chasing Jew fish/mulloway on plastics and I love it.

I grew up in the Sutherland shire, fishing with dad and my brother out of a boat in port hacking river fishing for bream, flathead, whiting and now and then blue swimmer crabs.

I got into soft plastic fishing about 10 years ago targeting flathead and bream and now target jewfish, kingfish and many more species , started fishing out of my Hobie mirage outback about 7 years ago because of how easy it was to get to places not easily accessible.

I enjoy getting away with my brother camping and fishing lakes and rivers for murry cod, yellow belly, bass and trout.

My brother got me into tournament fishing for bream about 6years ago and I haven’t looked back, I enjoy catching up with all the other fisho’s from other states.

I was born and raised in Western NSW; about 4 years ago I was lucky enough to gain a work promotion to Huskisson Ambulance Station as the Paramedic in Charge. The new location has provided the opportunity to broadened my angling awareness 10 fold.

At 52 years of age I have seen a lot of fishing though only in the last 3 years chasing Bream under tournament conditions. There is something about how such and easy fish to catch can be so difficult to master. It is this attraction that keeps me coming back to gain more knowledge and fuel my infatuation.

The angling opportunities that the Jervis Bay area offers are endless and my days off are spent exploring back waters from my Hobie Outback looking for Bream, Flathead, Bass and Estuary Perch. I am passionate about catch and release (My boat rego is RLEASN) and promote it in the community at every opportunity.

My favourite style of fishing is for Australian Bass on spinner baits, as they are such and unnatural and unlikely looking lure. The waters that I am able to fish make the trip more worthwhile due to the fantastic scenery and backdrop.

I am hoping my freshwater fishing back ground has given me knowledge that will be needed to master the target species during the 4th Hobie Fishing Worlds.

I grew up bait fishing with my Dad on the ocean rocks surrounding Jervis Bay. We mainly targeted Tailor and Kingfish and were very successful.

In 2010 i started using lures with not much success and nearly gave it away, then in 2012 i bought a Hobie pro angler and started fishing Bream comps and always finished near the bottom of the ladder.

In 2014 it all changed and i was consistently finishing in the top half of the field and and got my first win at Mallacoota Victoria, the highlight of my career was winning round 13 of the Hobie Diawa kayak series at St Georges Basin and qualifying for the Hobie kayak worlds.

First Hobie Fishing World Champion, NSW Australia, 2012 Texas, USA, 2013 Victoria, Australia

Scott is 41 years old and from Mornington Australia and has been competing in the Hobie fishing competition scene since its inception several years ago. He consistently entered every comp he could locally and interstate to improve his skills.

He had only ever caught one bream on lure before entering and it took him 4 comps before he troubled the weigh master. After struggling to get his feet and learn the art from his fellow fishermen, he went on to have a few wins and fish consistently at home and while travelling. In October 2011 he put everything he had learned into Winning the First Hobie Fishing World Championships held in Port Macqurie NSW, Scott also Appeared on AFC Barra in 2013, came second in the Hobie Grand Final 2013 with over 110 competitors from around the world, he also came 4th in the World 2013 World Title and a top 10 in the 2013 Hobie Bass Grand Final.

With more than 24 top 10 finishes to his name he has had great results interstate showing that he can find fish in spots he has never fished before. He puts all his success down to the lessons learnt during the competitions and his fellow fisherman who have become great friends and mentors in the process. His favourite species is Bream at Marlo slow rolling Jackall Chubbies across the flats and edges.
